Hi mom, tell everyone to do dearelder.com!! its way better and i get them every day.
i look forward to it too and love getting them and read them every night when we get our mail, and so far I've got something every night, so if your bored or anything just write me a quick one and it'll make my day.
The first few days here it felt like a prison kinda haha so many rules and stuff, but its getting better. I got your packages, but i got the one with my camera in it TODAY like 20 minutes ago and didn't have time to look at the pictures and the letters which are to my left right now, so i need to do that, but i didn't have time because i have to go to the temple at 2:30 and needed to get an email out before then. seriously...I've probably written 20 letters today to everyone!! thanks so much for the letters and packages, it means everything. and its lame cause packages and letters take so long to get out, like if i send a letter today it'll prob get there Monday, but i sent some letters too, i love writing letters and drawing pictures here.
So the first week we learned how to pray and bear our testimony in Spanish, we got into Spanish pretty fast, and I probably know way more now than I ever did, its really fun to learn it now cause the teachers are super cool and awesome and nice. Brother Wright and Hermana Mejia from Peru are our teachers. They are super awesome! I love seeing Matt and chase and Kevin and the other guys i know in here and its like the highlight of my day when i do. i saw Roach and AJ yesterday, they came in, it was sweet. the food stinks here, its like the cannon center, but worse. i eat bagels with wild berry cream cheese---amazing.. and sometimes i make toasted PB&J's which are always amazing!! and sometimes i eat the stuff they give you, but usually its gross so i eat cereal and stuff, but dont worry, i eat lots of fruit and eat bananas (ERICAS FAVORITE) every DAY! and sometimes i put peanut butter on them like dad, cause that tastes super good. We had to teach a lesson this week to an investigator person, who is obviously fake, but it was kinda realistic. It was hard, we had to introduce ourselves in Spanish and stuff, which was easier than presenting the lesson i think. We pray in Spanish at every meeting and before and after every class, companion study, personal study, and when we go to sleep and wake up...lots of praying. gym is kinda fun, i wish Matt and chase were in it with me though, i just play volleyball with whoever, its super fun! and i also rode the bike this week and met these cool missionaries that are going to Samoa. One is this big Finnish guy who looks Finnish cause he just...has that face, he's this big jolly guy. And then I met some other kid that swam for byu...Elder Palmer. they were super nice. i like meeting random people cause everyones super nice here. my companion is pretty cool, he"s from Washington and is a breakdancer (a breakaa for nick). our cells, or dorms, :) fit 4 people, I'm on the top bunk...which is SO TALL and its hard to climb up there. its nice though, it gets FREEZING in our room at night though!!! i got this awesome pen that has a bunch of colors so i color alot. oh look a chicken (dad :).) my district is super sweet, we have lots of fun and they're all super good guys and stuff. we study alot alot as I've said before, and I've been going over lesson 1 of preach my gospel alot so i can teach it, its really fun. the spirit is super strong all the time here, and i feel it the most when this one kid in our district bears his testimony, and its soooo amazing because he has a crazy story behind him coming out here. he got in a crash like a year ago on the way back with his mission call and broke his back and ankles and like all this stuff...his jaw too. but anyway hey just got his date pushed back and didn't get reassigned so hes still going to Puebla. but his story is AMAZING and he relates it all to the atonement and stuff and its just amazing! and i LOVE praying in Spanish...its SO much fun!! Days go by like weeks here, and weeks go by like days they say, which is kinda true...the days DO go by like weeks... i feel like I've been here for almost 2 years now. the days are sooooo long, but weirdly they are not that boring, sitting in class for like 4 hours is pretty fun actually, and learning is easier here. i love it. oh and THE CHAIRS ARE SOOO COMFORTABLE!!! its sweet, i need to get one when i get back, they're amazing :) I'm learning alot and my testimony has grown a TON so far!! we have class pretty much all day every day and Thursday is my p-day and then i write everyonnnnnnne!!! :))) its the best!! i love the dear elders and packages and hand written letters the most, it means soooooo so much!! tell everyone thanks for everything. i love learning a ton about the church and the gospel and its so true, and makes me feel so good when I'm studying it :) LOVE YOU ALL!!!!
LOVE,
ELDER BERTHA!
